BARCELONA

Hello Everyone!

I have a layout to share with you that I did for the Stuck!? Sketches challenge.

Here is the sketch to be used for inspiration.

Another cracker of a sketch from Laura Whitaker.

Here is my layout.

Another layout for my travel album and this time in Barcelona. My journalling says....

Barcelona was by far my favourite place on this holiday. I love the vibe, the people, the food and even the sangria. If I ever had to choose another place to live it would be Spain. We want to go back and see some more.

Here are some close-ups.

I used Authentique papers from a couple of ranges for this layout.

I die cut some tags and leaves and punched out the lollipop flowers.

Journalling done directly onto the paper.

This was such a fun layout to do.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a comment. I really appreciate.

Till next - Happy Scrapping!

HOW DID I GET SO LUCKY

Hello Everyone!

I am back with a challenge for this months Challenge YOUrself  blog. These are such fun to take part in because this is ALL about you, and who doesn't love that?

This months challenge is to use a die-cut, and of course to feature a photo of you.

Here is my layout.

I found this die cut in my stash and so I am very happy that I finally got to use it. The other pattern papers are from Bo-Bunny and are from the gift I received from Denise van Deventer at NSD this year. They are sooooo pretty and are from the Sweet Moments collection.

My journalling says...

When we got married I never gave a thought to what my life would turn out to be. I married a cop and I just thought you would always be a cop earning a cops salary. Yet here we are 40 years on and living the life! You did good, and I am so grateful for you, you have always taken care of your family. It has taken years of blood, sweat and tears to get to this and I love the life that we have so thank you! Know that I love you.

Here are some close ups.

I used a couple of different alphas to create my title and the journalling is on a little journalling tag.

I also used a doily and a heart punch.

The same for the little cluster at the top of the page.

I also have a couple of other layouts to share.

All of these layouts have been created after doing one of Shimelle Laine's classes... As you can see I am a little obsessed by her. I just love her easy style which has become easy for me too.

This layout is for our travel album and my journalling is on the little tags at the bottom and tells just how hot it was in Rome when we were there. The queue at the Vatican was so long and it was so hot there was no ways I was standing out in that sun. Simon snuck in the back door while I waited in the shade for him. No ways I could do it.

This is opposite the layout above in my album so I used the same papers... but I don't know whose they are.  My journalling tells how grateful we were to get to a place where there was sea and we decided that we could not do any more 'all day - every day' sightseeing the heat was just too unbearable. Split was small and so we did a beach day then a sightseeing day. We walked all along the promenade down towards the harbour where the small boats were.

I just love this kid too... She has such a big personality. She was playing in the garden.. She saw the cat slink under the gate to get out onto the road. Next minute madam copied the cat and escaped with daddy right behind her video taping the great escape when she laughed when she got out so proud of herself. She loves to play outside and what child isn't tempted by mud and water even if it is not warm weather yet.

The papers for this are Fancy Pants - Dancing Girl.

This layout is for my favourite grandson Spence.

My journalling on the layouts tells how this child loves superheros and new clothes especially if they come with superheros on them. When he gets new clothes he dances around with glee and wants ALL the new stuff put on over whatever he is already wearing. He is just to cute. They have to pry to stuff off him to wash. He is such a delight.

For this layout I used Simple Stories papers.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a comment I really appreciate it.

Till next time - Happy Scrapping!

KEEP TRUCKING

Hello Everyone!

I am here with a layout for the new August 15th challenge over at Stuck?1 Sketches.

Here is the layout that you need to use as your inspiration.

Here is my layout.

What I really wanted to call this layout was.... 'Does this truck make my bum look big' but I just didn't have enough space :D

My journalling says....

Scarli, You really know how to make me laugh. You play so happily on your own but you know what you want and you wanted to go for a ride in this truck with it's broken wheel. I could see you trying to work out how to get in. I had to push you around and around. I managed to snap this pic before you fell out. You happy child you <3 p="">

Here are some close ups.

I use another local companies paper for this layout... Ivy Tree Studio. Such a fun range too.
I can with sheets of papers and cut apart sheets and also a sheet of project life cards so it was very easy to use. I fussy cut some of the flowers and added the butterflies that were punched using a Martha Stewart punch.

Another spray of fussy cut flowers.

I chose to use washi tape to create the diagonal for this layout and the paper I used for the background has both a washed board wood look and a vine pattern so it was perfect to use.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate it.

PIRATES IN THE HOUSE

Hello Everyone!

It has been a while since my last post :/ but here I am.

FabScraps is one of the sponsors for this month over at CSI and we were asked to make a layout for the challenges. Now as most of you may know I used to be on the DT at CSI and it is absolutely one of the best teams to be on, and it is great to be back as a guest DT. They are a great group of girls and Debbi Tehrani is a wonderful administrator who comes up with amazing themes for her challenges. If you have not played along before I highly recommend that you do. Go and check it out now!

Here is the case file.

Here is my layout.

Scheme - I used all the colours in the Scheme.
Evidence - Stripes and polka dots, banners, scallops, string, triangles, skull and cross-bones and buttons.
Testimony - Document an adventure... my journalling says...

Spence, You just loved your pirate outfit and you wore it all the time. You do make a very cute pirate but you are not fierce enough to be one.
To be a good pirate you need to...
Have a pirate ship to sail the seas, pilaging and looting.
Speak the lingo - Aaarrgghh me Harties!
Drink rum - YOU are way to young for that.
Be able to fight with a sword and you are too soft for that.
You still look so cute though!

My journalling on the back says:

I love how you are able to play on your own for hours. Making up games and getting lost in your own little world. Taking your pirate treasure from here to there and building up your wealth of things collected from your adventures. I hope that you never lose this ability Spence it will be your greatest gift to yourself. Play your games and enjoy your own company while you can, it doesn't last nearly long enough.

Here are some close-ups.

The papers I used were from my stash I pulled everything that was the right colour and created lots of layers. The little skull and swords was cut on my silhouette machine and layered onto a tag. (I have just seen I forgot to complete the date. I must have been interrupted :D I will have to go and do it.)

Some of the bits didn't have the right colour so I covered them up like ticket that says 'The Story'. I cut the tags and the banner from left over paper and added the buttons on top.

The title was cut on my silhouetted and an assortment of other alphas from my stash.

I have made a couple of other layouts too so I will just show you them as well.

This one is Hello Bunnies!

For this layout I used my new Shimelle Laine - Little by Little collection. Most of you know I am very partial to Shimelle anything :D These papers are just so pretty. I would NEVER have used a paper like this as a background before but I love how it looks.

My journalling on this layout says.

We discovered little bunnies on the verge outside of our estate and one Sunday we decided to take our 3.5 year old grandies to go and feed them. All armed with little bags of lettuce. They were so hesitate at first but once the got the hang of it they had a ball. Now every time them visit we have to take them to feed the bunnies. Sweet moments!

I layered up the critter paper onto an American crafts circle patter that was the right colour. I felt that it was too much pattern on pattern so I broke it up by layering a thin black border onto the critter paper. The yellow is from my stash and the pink is the B-side of another Little by Little paper. I used a couple of the journalling cards to journal on and fussy cut the cameras and the big bunny. The little flowers were from a sticker sheet and I added a little black washi tape film strip to bring back the black.

Here are a couple of close ups.

I popped some of the elements up for a little visual interest.

Because I wanted to make the HELLO part of the title I added some glossy accents to it.

You can see the black washi tape. I love this one and I can't find more anywhere :( I am very sad about that.

Here is another layout using the same collection.

My journalling says...

The 'Royal' family :) How cute did you all look. What a fabulous idea for fathers day too. You always make such an effort with Lloyd and Scarli to make life interesting and fun. You had a big dream and you are working hard to make it reality <3 p="">

Lots of layers and some faux stitching and some circle flowers for a little dimension.

Here are some close ups

You can see the faux stitching and some washi tape too.

The heart came from a chipboard sheet and already had stitching on it... win win.

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a comment. I really appreciate it.

Till next time - Happy Scrapping!

TWINS

Hello Everyone!
I have had some time to play this week and as I just love Laura's sketches over at Stuck?! Sketches  I played along.
Here is her new sketch... isn't it gorgeous?

Here is my layout.

I pretty much kept to the sketch.

I did add a tag to journal on and my journalling says....

You two look so angelic here :) On the whole you get on very well but you do have your moments. I am so glad to have been such a big part of your life so far. Seeing your personalities form and develop has been so special. <3

Here are some closeups.

I used papers from Echo Park for this layout I love these colours together they are so playful. The yellow heart paper was from my stash and I can't remember whose it was :D

The flower cluster was cut from the green and white stripe paper. The little ' <3 this' is a die cut from my stash that was cut from white cardstock then I used Nuvo drops to fill in the heart. Had a HUGE accident on my desk while using it too. The lid popped of and there was red Nuvo stuff everywhere - how it missed my layout I don't know but I am glad it did.

I created a little cluster on this side of the photo for a little weight.

I also doodled around all the paper pieces to add a touch of whimsy.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and for taking the time to leave me a comment. They really make my day and I appreciate them.

Till next time - Happy Scrapping!

CHASING RAINBOWS BLOG HOP LAUNCH

Hello Everyone!
I am excited to be a part of the Chasing Rainbows Blog Hop which will be running from 10 - 20 July. There are some fabulous prizes up for grabs. I will be drawing a random prize at the end of the blog hop so make sure you follow all the blogs and leave a message for each one. Come back here and tell me which was your favourite and you may be the lucky winner.

Here is the card I created for this blog hop.

These are the supplies I chose to go with - my all time favourites for creating striking cards.

I wanted to use this stamp... don't know whose it is or where I got it - I am pretty useless like that.

I inked up areas of the stamp using only three colours. Fired Brick, Faded Jeans and Shabby Shutters. I love these three colours together.
I used my misti tool to get a good impression on the water colour paper.

Once I was happy with my image I used Tea Dye and a sponge blending tool to add some colour around the edges.

I added a pen nib to the butterflies body that I swiped with a blue shimmery metal paint. I also die cut the word thanks in a blue suede paper which I just love, and it cuts so beautifully.

I tied some blue gauze ribbon onto the card and added a rose that I dyed with a blue spray mist... one I made using Tim Holtz re-inkers. I added a few bling in the blue and the card was then mounted onto a piece of beige suede paper.

The whole card was then mounted onto dark blue cardstock.

Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment I really appreciate it.

Till next time - Happy Stamping!

BUSY BEE

Hello Everyone
I have been a bit bad with posting of late, but things have been seriously hectic around here. We have had major work done on our pool and garden area.

We had to re-marbelite the pool so the tiles had to be removed... then we decided to pave a big area around the pool.

We had water tanks installed so that when we have water outages we still have water. Not very pretty but VERY practical. So I decided the pave the whole area outside my studio too... watch this space :D

I have had two cataract surgeries :O and a grandies 1st birthday - so never a dull moment. I can't show you the layout for Scarli's birthday yet.

I was also asked by Carien Basson and Scrapbook Studio to design a kit for her Kit Club. Can't show you that one yet either :D

I do have a few projects to share with you though.

This first layout is a double layout using the FabScraps C94 - My Fairlady Collection. This was the first collection that I got to work with and I decided to create a double layout for my travel album as the colours were perfect for my photos of Stonehenge.

My journalling on the front of the layout says...

Stonehenge had been on my bucket list for a long time and I was so excited to there with Willy and Emmy. Truly magnificent. Now my goal is to get there one more time to experience the winter solstice.
Now the stones are all roped off so you can't get close to them. They have been around since about 200 BC.
There are many theories surrounding Stonehenge and spirituality. Maybe why so many go to the solstice!

I kept the page very simple just using the papers and a doily and also some lace tape. I made he flowers using circles and punched the butterflies with my favourite butterfly punch.

I painted the title with a distress paint to match the paper and then I embossed it with some gold paint. I also used a FabScraps stencil at the top left and right with some gold perfect pearls. Worked a treat. A little bit of stamping finished this layout off.

I also made a card using the cardmakers kit from this collection.

Not my normal style at all but I think it turned out ok :D

So, I have been a fan of Shimelle Laine for a very long time. I recently re-watched her videos and tutorials and I have been using some of her principals and sketch to scrapbook pages ... I really love her style and I think it is a good fit for me. Here is one of the layouts I created from her 15:06:11 Sketch to Scrapbook challenge.

I love this photo from our little beach at Uvongo and I really love these colours.

I have been journalling as much as I can on the front of the layouts so that it is easily readable.  It says...
We have had our house at Uvongo for a little more than 10 years. I love to comer here, just to chill and unwind. Feel the sun on my face and the sand in my toes. Just bliss!

This next layouts is another Shimelle layout but I loved to colour on her layout. Black, yellow and white. I wanted to use these photo of Scarlett at her first birthday party. I think that this colour combo is just so happy and cheerful and perfect for her photos.

My journalling for this layout says...
Mom and dad had a cake smash for your first birthday. I don't think I have ever seen anyone enjoy it as much as you did. At first you looking around to see if this was really for you. You tried a little first to taste and then you went all in. When you lay on top of it to eat I was finished. :D

I added some paint around the bingo card and big splats too and some fine splatters. The butterflies were painted with distress stain to get the colour I wanted. I also painted the big butterfly it was originally white and black.

I have completed a few more of my travel album pages. I am getting there now.

The first one is a trip to Thailand and we took a day trip to the island Krabi. This is also a Sketch to Scrapbook page from Shimelle from 29:06:11.

Journalling says...
We took a trip with the Waspe's to Krabi Island for the day. Perfect. warm weather and the boys were so excited to gon on the big boats. It was such a pity that Sim got ill and missed it. He would have loved it! Lunch and swimming on the island and a stop on the way home at Pranang Cave beach where it is said that seamen make offerings to the Princess.

Next a page for my trip to Northern Ireland. Sketch to Scrapbook page 22:06:11.

My journalling says...
Ali and I did a girls trip to Belfast for five days. All of a four hour drive from Kilkenny. We stayed in a hotel in Belfast and toured all around Northern Ireland. We even tried to go to my family home but were not able to as the lady who lives there now was in hospital. I loved this place and I can't wait to go back.

Next is a layout for Belguim - Spa 2015.

My journaing says....

After we left Ireland we flew to Belgium and our first stop was Spa. Simon had made a mistake with the Formula 1 dates and we missed the Grand Prix. We did go to the track and watched a bit of a 24 hour endurance race which was cool. I loved it. All they had to drink there was beer and so not only did I develop a love of racing but also of beer. Hooked on both now good/bad thing?

This next layout is just one for our annual album and it was created from a kit I got a while back. Nothing was working for me but I really liked some of the paper so I just changed it. Not what I wanted but it is ok.

Journalling on this one says...

When we bought our place at the sea the idea was to go down every six weeks or so for a week. (Simon would work from there). Well that didn't happen. This year we went down for my birthday and decided to put it on the market. I am not sure if we have done the right thing or not but here we are in July and we have not been back down. We love it when we are there and our little beach is so nice. I wish we could get it right.

Then my last layout for now is another for my travel album.
Spa was so boring so we decided to take a day trip across the border to the Netherlands to a place called Maastricht.

This layout was created for a Challenge that Shimelle Laine is running for the month of July which is all about titles and journalling.

My journalling on the front of the layout says...

We decided to drive from Spa to Maastricht in the Netherlands for the day. What a lovely little town. It was so wet and cold and we had a hot chocolate to warm up before we braved the wet to explore the town. One of the churches had been made into the most wonderful bookstore with a restaurant outside. I want to go back.

Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to leave me a comment. I really appreciate it. If you read this whole post THANK YOU!

Till next time - Happy Scrapping!
